Guild members MUST obey the rules of Neopets.com as set forth in their Terms and Conditions. Members should read the Wall of Shame which lists common cheats, hacks, and scams, etc., which lists what some users do to try to steal your items and/or accounts. It is also a good idea to read the Neopets News every day and the editorial which appears in the Neopian Times each week, so you will be aware of any changes or additions to the rules for Neopets.com.

The merchants guild sees no reason to add to the rules already in force by Neopets.com, but it seems prudent to point out some rules that everyone should be aware of and follow.

1.) Contests: All contests and competitions have been banned by Neopets. No contests are allowed in guilds OR in shops. It does not matter what you call it, if you must buy something or give an item or NP for a chance to win anything, IT IS NOT ALLOWED. PERIOD. Included but NOT limited to the following are: contests, competitions, lotteries, drawings, and chances.
Exceptions: Giveaways through the money tree ARE allowed. Anyone may donate items to anyone, SO LONG AS THIS DONATION IS NOT PART OF A CHANCE TO WIN SOMETHING. Anyone may use the Mystery Island Trading Post to make trades. If you find a shop OR guild that advertises a contest where you must give an item or buy something for a CHANCE to win anything, regardless of what they call it, you may report them to abuse@neopets.com
There are plenty of guilds and individuals who are willing to violate the rule on contests and/or other rules, many of these same people are scammers out to steal everything and anything you have if they can. The merchants guild does not want such people as members, and encourages reporting these individuals to abuse@neopets.com

2.) No abuse of any kind is tolerated.

3.) Keep in mind this is a FAMILY site. This means there should not be any profanity, swearing, cussing, or anything inappropriate for young children on the site.

4.) Multiple Accounts:
The following is a direct quote from Neopets News of 12 January 2002:
Just a quick warning, we (Neopets Team) are getting VERY strict with multiple accounts. We will freeze anybody who creates multiple accounts in order to gain a financial (neopoint) advantage over others. Basically, if you have a couple of extra accounts to store Neopets, or items, or a guild that is fine. However, if you log into multiple accounts on a daily basis and use the shrine, tombola etc.. to get neopoints...then wave bye-bye to ALL your accounts.

Just to re-iterate, creating multiple accounts to gain extra neopoints with is NOT allowed. It is unfair to people who play by the rules, and heavily scorned upon by the Neopets Team. Please don't do it, and when your accounts are frozen please dont email us asking for them back, because they will never be unfrozen.

Neopets Golden Rules
Your main account must be the only account you use for daily Neopoint-gaining activities such as flash games, Tombola, Shrine, Fruit Machine, Snowager, Kiosk, Mystery Pic etc... You may have up to 4 other accounts for guilds, galleries, storage, and extra neopets (which we hope are fed on a daily basis!) We do not mind if you use your other 4 accounts to gain Neopoints via your Shop, or the Trading Post, as these Neopoints do not come out of thin air, they require you to actually be selling items. If you already have more than 4 accounts, but do not use them to make Neopoints, don't worry thats fine - just please don't create any more. Thanks for playing Neopets, and we hope you understand that we make these rules to make Neopia a fairer, and a more exciting place for everybody!

If you see anything that you feel should not be on Neopets, even if it has not been specifically listed here, report the violation with as much information as possible to abuse@neopets.com

Please do not spam the chat boards, out of courtasy. If you want to post a few small messages, why not different paragraphs and post it as one message. If you do have to post small messages just remember to keep them to a minimum, we would prefer that you would post one message than 5 small ones.

Try not to have member conversations on the boards...like hello, how are you, not bad...what have you been up to lately...etc.

One rule that is simply known is that we would prefere that members did not beg for items either in gerneral or in any given shop. If there is something that you need often we will offer it to members at a lower price, but if you beg for it, you may not get it at all.

Donations are greatly appreciated there is no real reward for donating, but they help us to give you better prizes for our give-a-ways. If you would like to donate you could either do it through the trading post, offer neopoints/items on junk ones, you could buy from the donation shop or you could send items through the neofriends option. All donations go to the account that I created for the guild called merchants_guild_shop (the link to the shop is on the home page of the guild).
